and visualise us walking

out of the city

and along Sir Donald Bradman drive

to the Airport

and imagine – if you will

an unbroken line of small coffins beside us

end to end from here to the Airport

and beside it another line

and another & more lines

stretching 100 yards into the distance

Well that first line would hold the children

that died yesterday worldwide

because of bad water they drank a week ago.

and those other lines a year’s worth.

Thirsty, they threw up if they drank

exhausted, they couldn’t sleep

and their little hearts beat faster & faster & faster

as they tried to rid themselves of the monster inside.

till eventually those small hearts stopped

exhausted.

Why is this?

1. Children drink whatever is available – they don’t know. 85% of  deaths by bad water are children.

2. Water tables worldwide are dropping fast as the water is pumped   up

3 .Climate change is making bore water saltier

4. Sea water ingress at the coasts is ruining aquifers as sea level rises

5 .Population migrations to the cities are overloading water supplies

to heat the brine/ polluted water

before pumping it into the sump of the still

to give off its vapour

which rises into the condenser tubes

through which cool brine/ polluted water is pumped

to arrive warmed in the sump

having condensed the fresh water

which runs out through a heat exchanger

so it leaves cool.

and is stored in the barge to await collection.

Climate Change is being caused by us – but not through CO2.

So by focusing on CO2 reductions not ‘smoke’ we may have no effect and temperatures will rise dangerously before humanity realizes.

There’s a noise

above the bees & the birds

and beyond the traffic in the distance

And a movement in those stationary trees

It seems the calm we sense is false

the balance of life

merely the result of equal tensions

–       balancing each other

like the stationary middle of the rope

in a Tug-of War

For emissions are still rising in the US & here

and the growing numbers in China & India

seeking the western lifestyle

will demand it

by market forces or force itself

& they are nuclear armed

And kindness is not the norm in Chinese thinking

is there a Hindu ‘Good Samaritan’?

And the hope that humanity

will share this round blue jewel equally

is not likely

it never has in the past

But does the future have to be Apocalyptic

will the combined Sino/Indian mind

have a self preserving foresight

the gluttonous western mind has yet to show

Will wisdom finally appear

like a modern Boadicea
and put her arms around us

as a mother might

as she scolds naughty children

before packing them off on the right path

when they are lost?

But she only has 10 years

at this rate

for her both to appear

and her actions to have taken effect.

or that apocalyptic view of the future

might be right.

We are tightening ‘our’ climate belt as much as we can and being involved with the Greens party and having and 8.5* house & Margi’s electric car… but its not enough is it?!

The O2 Pursuit, a project from an engineering school graduate in Australia, runs off compressed air stored in an on-board tank. Dean Benstead’s project began with a rotary air compression engine, around which he built a dirt bike. He started with a Yamaha WR250R frame, and added a scuba-diving tank and a 25-pound engine to power the rear wheel. Squeeze the throttle and air is released to accelerate the bike. SolAir will allow that old favorite at the back of Dad’s garage to be converted to an Eco Commuter/City Car allowing the owner to waft to & from work for free – to the purr of a V16, for V8 conversions. Slave air cylinders will be filled ‘at home’ with solar powered compressors during the day – allowing the commuters to recharge their car’s cylinders on return from work. Recherge on braking can also be considered.
